I'm trying to buy tickets to the Åland Islands. The summer paradise and winter ghost town. We are those strange tourists that also go there in winter time. There are two ways of going there: by air or by sea. A is getting enthusiastic as she sees the big boat on the internet site. "Mom, that's the boat I want to take." Hold your horses, little girl. There are no ferries on the requested date. I turn to the page of airplanes instead. Girl not as excited anymore. Gone are the days when she longed for a ride up in the air, and when she jumped up and down on the seat announcing to all the other (5) passangers on the Åland-plane: "Look, we are flyyyyying!". That's was about a year ago. We had not been up in the air for a long time, due to pregnancy and that flying suddenly became expensive as girl turned two. Now having the small plane and the big plane in fresh memory - flying undoubtedly is not as exiting anymore.
So I make a half-way deal with the daugther. We'll fly there and take the big boat back. Then hopefully everyone will be happy. Now, only if I could remember all the different passwords for the booking...
